What’s this? An AP Marvel episode that isn’t about Marvel? Does it count close enough that Chris Pratt is in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to discuss it in this AP Marvel format? It’s too darn late anyway. Chris (Compendio, that is) just couldn’t resist discussing this movie, bringing in Izzy and their buddy Thomas Rasmussen, a fellow teacher of their Marvel college class, to talk about another movie where dinosaurs eat people.
Topics include: expectations and “hype” for this film, the first Jurassic World (2015), the first film’s meta theme of fatigue and novelty, the main theme of Fallen Kingdom, the meaning of the end of Fallen Kingdom, the ethics of the right to live vs. natural selection in Fallen Kingdom, Jeff Goldblum’s role, nature conservation, endangered species, Maisie, the clone subplot, the pointlessness of the Indoraptor, favorite and least favorite shots, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, dramatic tension and suspense, “haunted house” genre, the importance of Blue, Jurassic World 3 speculation, what makes a fandom?
